And don’t even get me started on how much I love a third act break-up.
My love of books started with Harry Potter and stayed strong. As a teenager, my mom would beg us to do anything but read. In college, I read up to fifty books a semester. And as an adult, I wonder why it took me so long to realize I could make my obsession with stories a job with my love of analytics.
I finally started E&A Editing after I became a mom of two girls and had to leave a toxic corporate job where I was told by the CEO, “I should’ve had kids when I was younger. It would’ve been nice to not work for a bit.” I used that mediocre male audacity as fuel to start a business where I upheld women’s voices, instead of diminishing them.
I aligned myself with what I’m best at—helping others with honest dialogue and clear expectations. My relationships with authors are built on transparency and grace. Plus, it’s a core reason they are able to publish with confidence because they know WHY they kept the pieces they kept or cut those that didn’t work. Empowering authors to receive comments safely and then make changes knowledgeably is always at the heart of what we do here.
I’m a romance and fantasy book lover who never stopped asking what makes a story unputdownable.
I’m not out here just willy-nilly marking up manuscripts.
I have a Bachelor’s, a copyediting certificate from UC San Diego, and multiple complete training courses from The Editorial Freelance Association.
I maintain a membership with The Editorial Freelancers Association and I’m a former member of ACES. I also participate in monthly education and mastermind meetings twice a week to stay up to date on editing as a skill and a business, which I use to recommend craft books, exercises, and as information to keep improving every manuscript I touch.
My authors typically book me six months to a year in advance. If you are interested in securing your spot please reach out for updated availability.
